Dear Member,
We are very excited about the 2009/2010 Season and look forward to your joining us for the wonderful productions and activities that await you.
The season will open in November with the comedy-drama, Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling. The play is based on the author’s true life experience of his sister who had Type 1 Diabetes. The play’s title reflects the six female character’s personalities being “as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel”. Steel Magnolias opened in 1987 as an off-Broadway play and was later made into a movie starring Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine and others. We are delighted to welcome back award winning director and Wellesley Players member Celia Couture.. Celia directed our award winning production of Graceland, as well as regular season productions of Mame, The Quarterly and Tribute.
Our spring musical will be the ever classic musical, Fiddler on the Roof, also directed by Celia Couture . You won’t want to miss this blockbuster musical with its award-winning score by Jerry Bock and show stopping songs such as If I Were a Rich Man and Sunrise, Sunset..
Your continued membership support and active participation is critical to our success. As an all volunteer group who share a passion for both theater and teamwork, we look forward to your renewing your membership and joining us on the boards, in the audience and backstage. Our membership base is our foundation and without it we would not have the resources, both financial and volunteer-wise, to produce our 84th season.
